homemaking for world peace

 is homemaking dated?

so many people would say that it is.

me, i'd disagree.

home: a place of belonging.

making: creating, building, crafting.

what, then, is homemaking?

creating a place of belonging.

is it dated to create a place of belonging?

beauty,

simplicity,

nourishment,

candlelight,

ambiance,

soft voices,

textiles,

literature,

cozy.

the place of belonging that we create is fully and completely whatever we focus on.

we create light because we want our homes to be places of light.

we create peace because we want our homes to be places of peace.

we take the time to breathe in every moment,

to craft and build and weave and pour out

because if we don't,

we are tearing our home down

instead of making it.

homemaking is an action, not just a thought.

we can intentionally make our homes

what we want them to be.

we can offer to ourselves and our families a haven from all that lies beyond that door.

a haven that provides

comfort,

acceptance,

love,

beauty,

warmth,

delight,

wonder,

freedom,

and peace.

none of it is dated.

those are all things we all need.
